
Person Specification
Students who are accepted onto the scheme will, in addition to meeting
the eligibility criteria;
- hold positive values appropriate to teaching and working in schools.
- have good oral communication and active listening skills.
- interact well with other people and be able to work in a group.
- show flexibility and a strong sense of teamwork.
- show maturity and a strong sense of responsibility.
- have a non-judgemental and approachable manner and be sensitive
to the needs of others.
- be enthusiastic about participating in school-based work.
- be able to ask perceptive and thoughtful questions.
- have had experience of communicating with people of varying ages
and backgrounds.
- show awareness of how they might manage the scheme alongside their
degree commitments.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scheme you must meet the following criteria.
- Your participation must be additional to any provision currently
available as part of your programme of study and not be funded from
any other source.
- You must not have Qualified Teacher Status or be following a programme
leading to QTS.
- You must be registered, full or part-time, on programmes leading
to a BA/BSc, post-graduate award, HND or foundation degree.
- For primary placements, priority is given to those who are studying Maths, Science or Modern Languages and to those from under represented groups, including men and those from ethnic minority groups.
- For secondary placements priority is given to those studying Maths, Chemistry, Physics, other Sciences, Languages, ICT, RE or D&T.
