1. WHAT IS THE STUDENT ASSOCIATE SCHEME? The Student Associate Scheme is a three year programme run by the TTA aiming to give students in higher education the opportunity to find out what it is like to be a teacher whilst still studying for their degree. The scheme is open to those students registered on relevant HND, foundation degree, undergraduate degree and postgraduate degree programmes, subject to certain conditions. Students experience 10 or more days of school-centred training on the scheme and the training shows students what it is like to be a teacher and guides them in working with pupils. For more information from the TTA click here.
To do level 2, you must have subject knowledge relevant to the National Curriculum and have achieved, or have the potential to achieve, grade C in GCSE English and Maths. For the eligibility criteria and a full person specification click here.
For level one, there will be 3 ½ days of training followed by
10 days in school which will include an introduction to the National
Curriculum, diversity in school, teachers learning and planning and
school policies and facilities.
